So, I whipped up a digital board and decided in honor of this first week of school here in Texas I would make it my first FREEBIE! I taught 4th grade so I know how crazy that first week of school can be for everyone. So, here's to keeping it easy and going digital!
These are the ones I did for my kiddos. Pretty cute, if I do say so myself!
The technical stuff before the fun...
Just a quick note before you download the FREEBIES- Only open the editable PDF files in Adobe Reader. If you're on a Mac just know that Editable PDFs don't play well with the Mac Previewer. You can download Adobe Reader for FREE so no worries! Included in the zipped file will be instructions for editing in Adobe Reader if you've never done this before. It's super easy!
Also, if you want the exact fonts I used, download those first before you open the file and start editing.
FREE Fonts I used:
Chalkhand http://www.dafont.com/chalk-hand-lettering-shaded.font
FFF Tusj http://www.dafont.com/fff-tusj.font
Grutch Shaded http://www.dafont.com/font-comment.php?file=grutchshaded
Kraft Nine http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=Kraft+Nine
Return to Sender http://www.dafont.com/return-to-sender.font
So, finally to the great part...the link to your FREEBIES!!!
http://www.grantavenuedesign.com/freebies/first-day-of-preschool-school-board/
Just add it to your cart. It takes a few minutes for the order to be completed before the link will be available on your "My Orders" page so if you need it right away just go to your email and you'll have a link waiting for you.
Send me pictures of what you made! Enjoy!
I love this!! I may not be doing it right, but I can't figure out how to edit in Adobe to change the colors...or from grade to preschool I got it to open and I was able to edit most of the fields, just can't fit everything in the boxes or change the colors...HELP!(I can't open the edit faqs either!)
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin! Yay! Glad you love it!
ReplyDeleteWhen you open it in Adobe Reader, click "Command and E" at the same time. That will open the Editing box. If you choose "More" that is where you can change the colors, font, and size. I'm guessing that's what is going on that the size is just too big to fit in the form fields. You can't change the word "Preschool". But, I have other boards that I just posted for Kindergarten and one that can be changed for all other grades. You can get those here: w.grantavenuedesign.blogspot.com/2013/09/freebie-friday-its-your-lucky-daytwo.html
If you email me at jenny@grantavenuedesign.com I will email you the FAQs. I'm happy to help! :)
I am having the same problem and I have no idea what you mean by "command and E". Is that on a mac? I have a pc.
DeleteCaitlin! You inspired me today! :)

Thank you so much for this freebie! My oldest is just about to start preschool and I am super excited to use this!
ReplyDeleteI want to use/download the fonts you used, but I have never downloaded fonts before. Do you have any tips that could help me figure this out? I just have a regular pc. (not a mac). I have also never edited anything in Adobe and your FAQs page wont open for me. Is there any way I can get a copy of that?
Thank you so much. -Jodi
Is there a way to save it so that I can send it to be printed?
ReplyDelete@The Call Crew- I just sent you a FAQ in a PDF. :)
ReplyDelete@Brandi- go to File, then choose "Save As", then choose "PDF" :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to do this for my daughter. When I was trying to edit I would like it to say preschool but i cant seem to figure out how to change the spot where it says grade into preschool? Im not sure if I need to get a different one or im not doing it right?

Do I have to save it as a JPG so that I can send it to Walgreens to be printed?
ReplyDeleteI don't believe it will let you save a PDF as a JPG. You can print it at home (just set it to borderless so it will print to the edges) or you can send it as a PDF to somewhere like Staples, Office Depot, Costco, or FedEx Copy & Print. :)
DeleteJenny thank you so much for this freebie. Loving it! I am using the latest abode but I am unable to change colours. Not sure what you mean by Command E. Can you please point me in the right direction?
ReplyDeletesame with me, how do I access the font I downloaded and change colors? I don't have a command key on my PC. I am thinking command= alt key on my Pc.
Deletemaybe the f3 key also at the top with a sunburst image. I'm going to try that later. Hoping it opens the font :)
DeleteI had to press Cntrl E (if that doesn't work try Fn E) then a little box pops up and you can change font and color
DeleteThe link says the page cannot be found. Has it been moved?

ReplyDeleteHere you go! http://grantavenuedesign.com/product-category/freebies/
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for updating the link. I really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI love this template and just finished it. For some reason the font changes to a standard when I upload it to Kinkos, Staples, & Office Depot. Any idea why and suggestions on how to correct it? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I did download the fonts from this blog and they all show up and saved perfectly to my pdf document. Thanks! :o)
ReplyDeleteWhen you print this at home do you 1. print it on letter-size paper? If so, can you see all the detail when you photograph your kids holding it? and 2. I cannot find the "borderless" option under the printer settings. Any help? Thanks so much for such a great design! It's by far my fave on Pinterest!
ReplyDeletehoe can I change the grade?
ReplyDeleteI have downloaded the fonts, but now how do I apply them to the pdf? I have the document open in Adobe reader, and I am able to type in the highlighted fields, but it's saying I need to pay in order to edit the text fonts. My kiddo's first day of preschool is tomorrow, HELP!
ReplyDelete:( this is no longer available?
ReplyDeleteeverything is downloaded correctly, but it will not let me open the file :( I downloaded adobe acrobat reader dc and it says it does not support the file type, help!! :(
ReplyDeleteHow do I change the font size on a PC? Ctrl E and FN E is not working, thanks.
